Christie’s Education and Christie’s Photographs Department are pleased to announce a fall course dedicated to photography. “Aspects of Photography” is a concise, fast-paced course that looks at photography from different angles including a history of processes, changing approaches to subject matter, and photography’s place within contemporary art.
The course will be offered from mid-September through early October. Classes will take place at Christie’s Education, 11 West 42nd Street with an off-site field study to the New York Public Library’s extensive photograph collection. Students will also have access to Christie’s Education’s study collection. There will be a sale walkthrough with a Christie’s specialist on Sunday, October 3 at 11:30 a.m.
The lectures will be given by top scholars in the academic, museum and auction fields. The course will combine a scholarly approach with first-hand contact with objects to strengthen connoisseurship skills. Whether you are just entering the field, or want a comprehensive review, the course will offer something for everyone.

Christie's Education is pleased to announce its fall 2010 Champagne Tasting Master Class. Join us as we explore champagne and the Champagne region. We will discuss the history of this illustrious wine and the famous Méthode Traditionelle of champagne production. Most importantly, however, we will taste: two dozen of the finest champagnes gathered from the most legendary producers of all time. In addition to this comprehensive tasting, we will offer a tasting menu of elegant food to illustrate the principles of pairing champagne and food.
This four hour course will be led by Charles Curtis, Master of Wine, head of the wine department at Christie's New York, and specialist in the secrets of champagne. Class size is limited -- register today.
