London Art Course

Drawing on Christie’s Education’s long experience of object-based teaching, the London Art Course combines lectures with visits to London's outstanding art collections and exhibitions. Choose from either Fine and Decorative Arts or Modern and Contemporary Art.

You will attend an illustrated lecture in the morning, reconvening in the afternoon for a site visit in London. The course can be taken as three successive terms or on a modular basis.

The London Art Course accepts a maximum of 20 people. To avoid disappointment, we strongly advise early booking on all terms you are interested in attending.

The course is an ideal taster for the more intensive Certificate and Master’s options offered by Christie’s Education.

London Art Course: Fine and Decorative Arts

If you're looking for an introductory insight into the world of the fine and decorative arts, this course is for you.

You will learn about the materials and techniques used to fashion fine and decorative art objects and, over three terms, dip into a range of stylistic periods significant in the history of western arts from the Renaissance to the middle of the 20th Century. The development of basic skills and abilities enhancing enjoyment of the arts in London is a fundamental aim of the course. In Term 3 you will travel to Lille, France to explore the various fascinating arts collections of the area.

London Art Course: Modern and Contemporary Art

This course will teach you some of the significant concepts that have shaped 20th Century modern art and how artists and designers have worked in diverse media including painting, printing, sculpture, photography, film and design. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the contemporary art world and how the current art market operates.
