Christie’s Art Business Courses seek to prepare individuals with an awareness
of the art market’s rich past and the insight needed to create the art world of tomorrow.

These courses are designed for both art professionals and newcomers to the field
who wish to gain an in depth introduction to many aspects of the art market
and the knowledge needed to thrive in today's highly competitive art world.

The courses are modularized with each module designed to complement one another to gain an overall picture of the industry, giving students a knowledge base in the business of art that is at once specific and diversified.

The Christie’s Art Business Course, London

The Christie’s Art Business Course in London will provide you with the wherewithal needed to enter the art market including up-to-date information and new analytical methods for those already in the business.


In each lecture, following an introduction by the course leader, guest lecturers, who are leaders in their field, provide a thorough insight into an area of the art world before further discussion.


Each module is made up of three evening sessions running weekly on Tuesdays.

  • Artistic Creativity & Art Business
  •  Valuation/Art Appraisal
  • Collecting & Dealing in Art
  • Auction Business
  • Museums & the Art Market


There are no specific educational requirements for the course.

To receive a Christie's Foundation Certificate in Art Business four modules and an essay must be completed and passed. By completing all seven modules and a further essay you will receive a Christie's Advanced Certificate in Art Business.

The Christie’s Art Business Course, New York

The Christie’s Art Business Course in New York introduces students to prominent art world leaders through lectures and discussions that provide an in-depth understanding of the practical and theoretical knowledge that underpins the global art market.

Students will be exposed to the nature of the professional art world, its players, network effects, and the economic, institutional, legal and ethical contexts that shape and structure the art market as a business.

Each module is made up of five evening sessions running weekly on Wednesdays.

There are no specific educational requirements for the course.

Completion of all 5 modules results in the award of a Christie’s Education Certificate in Art Business.
